Frequently asked questions about emergency home repairs
The answers to the questions we are asked most about prices, payment, VAT and the professionals in the network.
How is the price range calculated?
Each symptom you choose points to one or more lines of our reference price list. The range runs from the lowest minimum price to the highest maximum price of those lines, urgency surcharge included. It is then shown at both Belgian VAT rates. No amount is produced by an automated model.
What happens if no professional accepts my request?
We widen the search in successive waves around your address. If nobody accepts by the end of the last wave, the request is closed, the €35.00 call-out fee is refunded or the card authorisation is cancelled, and our team is alerted to offer you a solution.
Can I cancel my request?
Yes. As long as the professional has not set off, the cancellation is refunded in full. Once he is on his way, the €35.00 call-out fee stays with him, because he has travelled. If the professional cancels or fails to show up, you are refunded in full.
Why do you show two prices, at 6 % and at 21 %?
Because the VAT rate depends on your home and on the work, and because the professional selects it on site, under his own responsibility. The reduced rate of 6 % applies in particular to private homes older than ten years. Until the diagnosis, we show both amounts.
Can the firm price exceed the range announced?
Yes, a diagnosis on site can reveal a bigger problem. In that case the professional must write a justification, it is shown to you together with an above the estimate notice, and you remain free to accept or refuse. Nothing starts without your acceptance in the app.
When and how do I pay?
You pay the €35.00 call-out fee when you send the request, by card, Bancontact, Apple Pay or Google Pay. The price of the work is paid in the app at the end of the job, while the professional is still with you. You then receive the invoice.
Who issues the invoice I receive?
The professional who did the work. FixNow24 generates it in his name and on his behalf, with his details, his company number and his own numbering series. You receive a single invoice, whose total matches exactly what you paid.
Are the professionals really vetted?
Yes. Before receiving a single request, every professional provides company documents, public liability insurance, an identity document and a bank account, all checked by hand by our team. An incomplete or suspended profile receives no requests.
I can smell gas: can I send a request?
No, and that is deliberate. If you report a gas smell, the app blocks the request and shows only the safety instructions and the gas emergency number of your network operator. Leave the home, do not touch any switch and call that number.
Are the published reviews verified?
A review can only be written by a customer whose job was carried out and paid for in the app. Every review can be reported, and our team handles those reports. The average rating shown on the site comes only from those published reviews.
Which municipalities do you cover?
We are starting in the nineteen municipalities of the Brussels-Capital Region, then extending the network to Flanders and Wallonia. Each municipality page states how many vetted professionals actually cover it.
Does FixNow24 take a commission on what I pay?
No. You pay one price only, the professional’s, with no service fee and no surcharge. FixNow24 is paid by its partner professionals, on the basis of jobs actually completed and paid for.
